We have developed 160 Gbit/s/port optical packet switch (OPS) prototype with optical label processing and optical buffering in 2005. To improve bit-rate per one port, we develope 640 Gbit/s/port OPS prototype based on WDM-based optical packet technology. We newly introduce multiple optical label processors, parallel and pipeline buffer manager, and optical fiber delay line buffer using 1 x 8 Plomb Lanthanum Zirconate Titanate (PLZT) optical switch into this prototype. We have achieved error-free switching and buffering operation of 640 (64-wavelength x 10) Gbit/s WDM-based optical packets with a bit-error-rate below 10-9 by using OPS prototype. |
