Development of cell-phone based SMBG support system

(in English) Aiming at self-care support for lifestyle diseases, we are developing a cell-phone based SMBG (Self-Monitoring of Blood Glucose) support system named “iSMBG”, and conducting a demonstration experiment. Patients daily measure their blood-sugar level, weight, blood pressure and waist, and send them to the iSMBG server. At a hospital, when a patient see a doctor, the doctor can read the patient’s data from the server by holding the patient’s own cell-phone over a FeliCa reader. The patient-data is pretreated statistically and visualized by a graph to facilitate diagnosis. Application development has already been completed and we are conducting a demonstration experiment in Tsukuba district including Tsukuba University Hospital.
