The temperature of cavitation in sulfuric acid by spectroscopic analysis of C2 sonoluminescence
Shin-ichi Hatanaka, Shigeo Hayashi (Univ. of Electro-Comm.), Pak-Kon Choi (Meiji Univ.) US2008-74
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Excited-state C$_2$ emission spectra during multibubble sonoluminescence (MBSL, light emission from the clouds of cavitation bubbles) in sulfuric acid under the mixture of Xe and acetylene gases atmosphere at 32 kHz using an ultrasonic cleaner were collected. The comparison of the C$_2$ MBSL spectrum with simulated C$_2$ spectra calculated by the theory of diatomic emission clarified that the temperature of cavitation in sulfuric acid has an effective emission vibrational temperature of 7000 K~8000 K.
