Fabrication of Tellurite Fiber Coupler Using CO2 Laser Irradiation

(in English) For the practical all-optical switching application of an optical fiber grating coupler (FGC), in which refractive index modulated gratings are written, a power reduction of control light is required. Introducing of high nonlinear glasses for FGC fabrication is one of the solutions to reduce control power. In this report, prototypes of tellurite fiber coupler were fabricated to realize an FGC using tellurite fiber that has higher nonlinear refractive index compared to silica fiber. We demonstrated that an optical coupling to the cross port can be obtained in the fabricated tellurite fiber coupler.
