(in English) Light-induced self-written (LISW) technology is a unique and simple method of forming low-loss 3-dimensional (3-D) optical circuits in a photopolymer solution by using radiation from an optical fiber. Since this technology is applicable to almost all kinds of optical fibers, and optical wiring, application study came to be widely carried out in many organizations. This technology contributes to simplification of an optical interconnection greatly, and is expected as a means to reduce the mounting cost of an optical device. In this paper, we review the multimode LISW waveguide principle and applications. Especially we demonstrate the importance of launching mode distribution for LISW fabrication and measurements.
