Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) A sound detector system designed for detection and location of trapped victims in a disaster area is proposed. The system consists of a remote sensor and a main console. The remote sensor includes a microphone array and a multi-channel AD converter.Sound data captured by the remote sensor can be transmitted to the main console via a local area network. By a delay and sum method, information about the sound location can be presented as a visual image on the main console display. For the preliminary study, a 7-channel microphone array using electret condenser microphones and amplifiers was made and its performance was examined.
