Arc Energy and Electrode Loss of AgNi Contacts for Electromagnetic Contactors

(in English) The authors have been examining an evaluation method of the electrode loss of AgNi contact for electromagnetic contactor with medium load current at a resistive circuit. Consequently the relation between arc energy and cathode loss has been made clear.
In this paper, with various contact loads arc energy and electrode mass change are investigated in more details. At 0.5-1.5 of normalized contact load arc voltage & current waveforms, arc duration and electrode mass change are experimentally obtained. Contact resistance is measured too. From these results arc duration is almost 3.5ms independent of contact load.
Further, the relation between contact mass change and arc energy is experimentally obtained. The cathode loss/ arc energy is about 0.06mg/J, independent of the contact load, which is almost equal to the previous value. However, anode gain is changed with contact load and larger than cathode loss in many cases.
