[Special Talk] Real environment sensing for a mobile robot -- struggling in time and space --

(in English) Sensing for environments is necessary for autonomous navigation of a
mobile robot. There exist several kinds of sensors, whose subjects to
the sensing differs. Different but necessary kinds of sensors will be used
together because it is possible to utilise complementary sensory data
and to have efforts to decrease the number of invisible objects. An
arising problem, in this case, is variety of sampling rates among the
sensors and they are not designed to be used syncronized
system. Approaches of the present author to cope with this problem
togetherwith a mobile robot of the laboratory of the author is
introduced in this issue.
