We describe about Q-factor improvement using multi-staged SPM compensation and received-OSNR improvement using second-order distributed Raman amplification. We choose following evaluation condition: a span length of 80.1 km, fiber type of pure silica core fiber (PSCF), signal format of 100 Gb/s no-guard-interval polarization division multiplexed coherent orthogonal frequency division multiplex, frequency efficiency of 2 b/s/Hz, and WDM wavelength number of 10 channel. By employing second-order distribution Raman amplification in addition to first-order DRA, OSNR improvement is enhanced from 5.5dB to 6.6dB in extended L-band. As a result, transmission distance of 9.612 km is achieved at 1 Tb/s (10 channels x 111 Gb/s). Furthermore, we exclude inline dispersion compensators for XPM suppression, and experimentally show that a multi-staged reverse phase shift inserted between split CD equalizers, each dealing with an optical amplifier section, successfully suppresses SPM penalty due to the inter-sub-carrier nonlinearity of OFDM signal as well as inter-polarization nonlinearity. As a result, transmission distance is enlarged 1.25-fold to achieve greater than 12,015 km in 1 Tb/s (10 channels x 111 Gb/s) at spectrum efficiency of 2.0 b/s/Hz. |
