Estimation Method of Channel Occupancy Ratio for Wireless LAN

(in English) Channel occupancy ratio is the key information to realize efficient operation of the wireless system. The Channel occupancy ratio can be defined as the time occupancy ratio in the Wireless LAN (WLAN), which is equal to the utilization index of WLAN radio resource. We propose a novel passive method to estimate the channel occupancy ratio of WLAN. The proposed method produces greater improvement in estimation accuracy compared with conventional methods. The developed prototype experimental system is also shown, which can estimate the channel occupancy ratio every second. The excellent evaluation results executed on the experimental system are demonstrated even when many loss packets exist.
