Antenna Array SC-FDMA Receiver Based on DFT Domain EMA

(in English) The SC-FDMA system has received much attention as promising future mobile uplink communication systems due to both its low PAPR performance and MUI-free property even under the multi-path environments. However, instead of MUI, the demodulated signal experiences inter-symbol interference (ISI) within the data block for a single user, and thus channel equalizer or detector schemes to mitigate the interference have intensively been investigated. The authors previously proposed a SC-FDMA signal detection method using time-domain EMA (EM Algorithm) and reported that it could outperform the MMSE detector. In this paper, aiming at further reduction of computational complexity, we propose a DFT-domain EMA for the SC-FDMA signal detection. We emphasize that the optimal value of the step-size parameter which controls the update ratio, depends on the Eb/N0 value. By adjusting the parameter to the optimal value over its wide range, considerable BER performance improvement could be obtained. Computer simulation results show that the proposed detector significantly outperforms the conventional MMSE detector in terms of BER performance.
