Optical Path Connection Control on WDM Passive Local Network (APN)

(in English) CWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology applied to a local optical network. Plural wavelengths are carrying one HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) signal to provide real time transmission without compression. It also has Ethernet links on one wavelength. One of them is dedicated to a connection control signal transmission. The network design has an optical broadcast topology centered with so called an optical hub. The test bed has plural ONICs (Optical Network Interface Card) connected to the optical hub. The test bed operation showed that it can provide MP2MP (Multi Point to Multi Point) HDV (High-Definition Video) broadcast, 3D HDMI transmission and a HDMI full duplex real time communication. The paper discusses the issues to be solved on plural optical link connection control on the optical broadcast network.
