High-level Feature Extraction from Video Using SIFT GMM and Acoustic Features

(in English) We propose a statistical framework for high-level feature (HLF) extraction, which employs SIFT Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) and acoustic features. First, we model the distribution of SIFT features in each shot by a GMM. Second, we compute distance between shots which is defined as weighted sum of Maharanobis distance between the Gaussian components. Finally, we classify shots using a support vector machine where the kernel function is constructed by the distance described above. In addition, we use MFCC features and ergodic hidden Markov models to detect HLFs in audio streams. The best result obtained by using SIFT GMMs in terms of Mean Average Precision on the TRECVID2009 corpus was 0.141 and it was improved to 0.177 by using audio information.
