Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We studied on a new type of ultrasonic welding tool for joining thin films. The tool is a resonator which is driven by two resonant frequencies at the same time, and the lateral face of the resonator is used as a face of joining tool. The resonator vibrates in one wavelength and 1.5 wavelength resonance. On the nodal points of 1.5 wavelength resonance, four sets of slits are made. The stress of the nodal points makes shear force, so that the force makes flexural-mode vibration. As the result, longitudinal vibration and flexural vibration are driven by different frequency on the tool face. In this paper, we describe on the design procedure and the results of measurements of electrical characteristics and distributions of vibration amplitude.
