EL properties of Organic Light-Emitting Diodes using isomers of naphthyl-substituted diamine derivative (NPD) as a hole-transport layer
Ayanobu Ikeno, Tatsuo Mori (Nagoya Uni.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Diamine derivatives $\alpha$-NPD is widely used as hole transport materials in organic light-emitting diode(OLED). But it is known that $\alpha$-NPD is easily polycrystallized after vacuum deposition. In this study, we investigate the stability of film structure of $\beta$-NPD which is a different isomer and device characteristics of the device using $\alpha$-NPD. It was found that the film structure of $\beta$-NPD is very stable and that the HOMO and LUMO levels of $\alpha$-NPD is the same as that of $\beta$-NPD. The device using $\beta$-NPD as a hole transport layer has almost the same initial characterization as the device using $\alpha$-NPD. The lifetime of the former is longer than that of the latter.
