Recently, the bandwidth of the mobile networks became wider and video delivery services for mobile networks are widely spread. In mobile networks, fluctuation range of received signal strength is very large, and transmission speed fluctuates widely, so it is very difficult for mobile terminals to play smoothly the video received through the mobile networks. In this paper we proposed a real-time video transcoding system. Our proposed system estimates the amount of data in the buffer of the mobile terminal, and transcodes the video source on the basis of the amount. We made a trial system to verify effects of this system, and we found that our proposed system is one of effective systems that support smooth video play on mobile terminals. |
