Asymptotic Analysis of Transient WG Mode Radiation Field from a Variable Radius of Concave Conducting Surface

(in English) In this study, we shall examine the asymptotic analysis method for the transient whispering gallery (WG) mode radiation field radiated from an end-aperture of a variable radius of concave conducting surface. We assume that the WG mode is excited by a high-frequency pulse source with a truncated Gaussian time variation. Comparisons with the reference solution obtained by the numerical integration of the inverse Fourier transform of the product of the frequency-domain UTD (uniform GTD) solution for the WG mode radiation field and the frequency spectrum of a pulse source reveal the validity of the proposed asymptotic analysis method. We shall also clarify the differences between the time-domain UTD solution proposed in the present study and the conventional asymptotic solution.
