A broadband modulator with a low operation voltage has been developed for ultra-high-speed modulation. We fabricated the high-speed optical LN modulator with 3-dB bandwidth of 25 GHz. Applying a ridge-type optical waveguide structure on a z-cut LN substrate helps realize a V$\pi$ of 1.9 V at a frequency of 25 GHz in differential operation. 100 Gb/s NRZ-DPSK signal generation with the modulator was successfully demonstrated. |
