DCCP Congestion Control with Wireless Loss Identification at Access Point
Kenya Mori, Hayato Itsumi, Miki Yamamoto (Kansai Univ.) NS2009-180
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) When TCP is used in wireless environment, throughput performance of TCP is well known to be significantly degraded with packet losses in wireless part. Lots of improvement of TCP in wireless networks has been proposed, e.g. I-TCP and Snoop TCP. DCCP is proposed for TCP-friendly congestion control for UDP, but it suffers more degradation than TCP when DCCP is used with TCP adjusted for wireless. This is because DCCP unfairly decreases its transmission rate with wireless packet loss. In this paper, we propose a new mechanism for access point which hides wireless loss to the DCCP sender. Our simulation results show that our proposed mechanism can obtain high throughput even with high packet loss rate in wireless part.
