Multi-hop connections with wireless LAN make possible to access the Internet from far sites. Several reports on the throughput of the multi-hop connections with IEEE802.11b can be obtained. However, the reports on the throughput with relatively new standard, IEEE802.11g, are hardly seen. Then we measured the throughput using experimental sets arranged on a running track. There, low height antenna were adopted to shorten radio’s propagation distance. The result shows that in the case of no radio interference among the multi-hop connections, (1) the throughput becomes constant as the number of multi-hop connections increases, (2) when the number of multi-hop connections is 6 and the transmission rate of wireless LAN is 54Mbps the throughput is about 18Mbps. |
