A Cellular System with Amply & Forward Relay Stations

(in English) In this paper, a cellular system with amplify and forward type relay stations is presented. High directivity and high gain antennas are assumed for transmission between a base station and a relay station in a line of sight channel. By use of this system assumption, the instability problem inherent in the amplify & forward type repeater is mitigated. Therefore, a cellular system with a high spectrum efficiency, a low signal delay and a low system cost is expected. Interference to/from other cells are suppressed by deploying the relay station at the cell edge and by using sector antenna directed to the inner zone of the base station cell. A method to realize a MINO system in such a line of sight radio channel is shown. A system design is presented referring to the 3G-LTE system. The performance of the system under multi-cell environment with noise and interference is theoretically analyzed by use of the formulas given in the accompanying paper.
