Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Generation and control of “spin current” which is the flow of spin angular momentum is a key for the development of spintronic devices. A spin-Hall effect (SHE) provides us the conversion between the charge current and the spin current without using a ferromagnetic material. Here, we report the recent discovery of a giant spin-Hall effect in Au using an FePt perpendicular spin injector. The effect of the impurity doping on the SHE and the Au thickness dependence of SHE are shown, and possible mechanisms for the giant SHE are also discussed.
