STSAT-2C Test Satellite System Design for the KSLV-I Launch Vehicle ○Kyungin Kang・Nohhoon Myung・Jongtae Lim(KAIST)・Eunsup Sim(KARI) |

The STSAT-2 satellite was scheduled to be launched into an ellipsoidal orbit of 300km x 1500 km in December 2005 by the first Korea Satellite Launch Vehicle KSLV-1 from the NARO Space Center in Korea. Two flight models, STSAT-2A and STSAT-2B have same instruments such as like twin satellite. STSAT-2A was launched on the maiden flight of the KSLV-1, which lifted off the Naro Space Center, on August 25, 2009. The launch failed to place STSAT-2A into orbit after half of the payload fairing failed to separate. A second satellite, STSAT-2B, was launched on June 10, 2010, but the launch vehicle failed again. Further investigation is ongoing. Currently, STSAT-2C satellite is investigating for the third launch vehicle, KSLV-1. New instrument is intended as the principle payload of STSAT-2C. This paper shows preliminary system design includes Electrical Power Subsystem, Command & Data Handling Subsystem, Communication Subsystem, Attitude Control Subsystem and etc. |
