Indoor High-Resolution Direction Finding of Terrestrial Digital TV Signal based on Total Recording scheme

(in English) As the progress of the spread of terrestrial digital broadcasting services, the demands for fixed HDTV broadcast indoor reception are increasing. However, it seems difficult to receive higher SNR TV signal in indoor environment because the direct wave cannot reach the antenna. To solve this problem, understanding the characteristic of indoor radio propagation, especially DOA characteristics are important. However, a useful and simple measurement technique is not established so far. In this paper, an improved measurement method based on the so-called total recording scheme in Ref.[2] is proposed. In the proposed method, high SNR as the reference signal and the signal to be measured are recorded simultaneously. Next, we carry out the offline signal processing and create a correlation matrix of signals from each antenna branch. By analyzing eigenvalues of the matrix, we are being enabled to measure the propagation environment with high precision DOA. In this paper, we focused our analysis on DOA estimation, by carring out experiments in outdoor and indoor environments. Based on our measurement and analysis, our proposed scheme for DOA estimation is identified to be reliable and useful.
