This paper proposes a new approach to detect human gestures using microwave doppler sensor in indoor environments. The gesture recognition is actively studied as the key technique for developing new user interface. and there are many studies on an image-recognition technique from video data taken by cameras and recognition using infrared sensors, which are already adopted in some commercial products. However, these have problems in the cost of installation. In contrast, the proposed scheme performs the detection with comparatively cheap Microwave Doppler Sensors. This scheme is able to recognize the direction in which a gesture is performed and also recognize the category of gestures in indoor environments by providing multiple sensors in the target area and analyzing frequency spectrum of the received signal. |
