Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), it is essential to save energy consumption at sensor nodes (SNs). Clustering is one of approaches to save energy consumption, where neighboring SNs form a cluster and transmit the sensing data to cluster heads (CHs), and then CHs send aggregated data to a sink node. Under spatial non-uniform traffic environments, clustering causes the non-uniformity in energy consumption and data gathering performance between clusters. In this paper, we propose a clustering scheme for WSNs employing IEEE802.15.4 beacon enabled mode, which uniformly distributes network traffic to clusters through cluster area control by adjusting transmission power of beacons, thereby our proposed scheme can achieve uniform and improved data gathering performance. In addition, to reduce energy consumption the proposed scheme controls the active period length according to traffic conditions. The performance evaluations show that the proposed scheme achieves uniform and improved data gathering performance across the clusters and less energy consumption.
