Maximum Likelihood Detector for Sparse Multipath Fading Channels

(in English) There has been interests to develop MLD (Maximum Likelihood Detector) for sparse multipath fading channels. Since a trellis based MLD requires large amount of computations, there is a need to develop a MLD which requires less computational complexity in sparse multipath fading channels. In this report, a low-complexity BBD (Branch and Bound) based MLD is developed. Computational complexity and error performance of the receiver are evaluated by simulations. Reduction of computations required by BBD based MLD is achieved by ordering received signal. Simulation results indicate that the proposed MLD requires less computational complexity compared to trellis based MLD.
