| (in English) | One of the methods for exploring the principles of large neuronal network systems consisted of hundreds of millions of cells is a bottom-up approach from artificially-constructed miniature systems, on which both the whole picture and the elements of the systems can be observed simultaneously. Based on this point of view, we have confirmed that miniature neuronal networks, which are consisted of a single or several neural cells, can be formed in vitro with a simple procedure and cultured for about a month. The result of intracellular calcium imaging of the cells in these networks indicated that the temporal patterns of spontaneous activity emerging in these networks can be classified into several groups. | |
