Hole-assisted Dual Concentric Core Fiber with Ultra Large Negative Dispersion Coefficient of -13200 ps/nm/km

(in English) Dispersion compensating fibers (DCFs) are widely used in today’s optical fiber communication systems. They are indispensable to long-haul systems transmitting at high bit rates of more than 40 Gb/s. These systems require DCFs with a low insertion loss and a large negative dispersion coefficient to compensate effectively for the dispersion of the signals. In this paper, we propose a dual concentric core fiber (DCCF) with six homogeneous air holes, designed to realize a large negative dispersion coefficient. We clarify numerically that the dispersion property of the proposed DCCF can be controlled flexibly by adjusting the air-hole structure, and we realize the largest reported negative dispersion of -13200 ps/nm/km experimentally.
