A Study on Control Plane OAM Mechanism for OpenFlow Networks

(in English) In a network node or network architecture that control plane functions and data plane functions are separated and loosely coupled, it is necessary to synchronize various states such as packet forwarding tables among them. Mechanisms that all states are surely synchronized in the event of a state change are commonly used approach but they are not suitable for networks that require frequent and faster state updates. For solving this issue, we are developing a method that provides light-weight and fast state synchronization among packet forwarding tables on a control node that provides control plane functions and packet forwarding nodes that provides data plane functions. In this paper, we propose a method that verifies synchronization state of packet forwarding tables on a control node and packet forwarding nodes. Also we applied the method to OpenFlow and show performance evaluation results of the method based on a prototype implementation.
