Influence of Human Body on Radiation Patterns of Antenna For Push-to-Talk Communication Line in VHF Band
Naoto Kogo, Tetsuomi Ikeda (NHK) AP2011-3
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The push-to-talk communication line for broadcasting organization is used in VHF band (160MHz Band), and used for a way of communication in the program production. In this report, we designed a helical antenna with a metal case as a handy-type transceiver and calculated the characteristics of the antenna with a numerical human-body model. To investigate the influence of human body on the characteristics of the antenna, we calculated the radiation patterns and antenna gain when the antenna is in the close proximity to the face. Moreover, we calculated the SAR in the human body exposed to electromagnetic waves from the antenna. As a result, we confirmed that the radiation patterns and antenna gain in the horizontal plane of the antenna degrade slightly with respect to them of the antenna located in the free space in case that the distance between the face and the antenna is more than 100mm. In addition, the SAR in the human body exposed to electromagnetic waves from the antenna located as usual operation satisfied the limit value indicated in the safety guidelines by the ministry of internal affairs and communications.
