Mode Selectivity and Athermal Operation for Hollow Waveguide DBR Lasers

(in English) Hollow waveguides exhibit extremely low temperature sensitivity and a giant equivalent refractive index change can also be realized at the same time by varying its air core thickness.
We propose and demonstrate a hybrid-integrated laser with an SOA and a hollow waveguide Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) for wide wavelength tuning and athermal operations.
We fabricated hollow waveguide DBR lasers with single mode operations over the tuning range and mode-hop free athermal condition.
The result exhibited SMSR of 38 dB and a small wavelength change within a longitudinal mode spacing 0.63 nm.
