[Invited Talk] A Study on Design of Optical Orthogonal Codes with Variable Chip Rates -- Some Issues Related to Asymmetry of Pulse Interval Distributions --

(in English) Optical orthogonal codes (OOC) have been studied by many researchers to increase its flexibility such as variable code length and variable code weight. Recently, the authors have proposed OOCs with variable chip rates, which can keep orthogonal properties of strict OOC even when different chip rate codes are used in the same optical access network for multiplexing in a fiber. The authors studies the random code search, the upper bound of code size, BER performance analysis based on pulse density and tight calculations, and so on. In this paper, the OOCs with variable chip rates are reviewed. For an algebraic code construction, some approach of code design using the BIBD sequences is introduced. Some issues related to asymmetry of pulse interval distributions are discussed.
