| (in English) | For evaluating the quality of hemodialysis from the limited volume of human blood using a commercially available open-ended coaxial probe, we measured for patients who require hemodialysis the dielectric properties of 2.5 ml whole blood in a syringe with a diameter of 20 mm and a depth of 8 mm, and obtained intercepts εrt' of straight lines for the Cole-Cole plots along with their blood components before/after hemodialysis. Statistical tests were conducted for these averaged values to reveal that there are almost no correlations between εrt' and blood urea nitrogen and creatinine with P>0.05, while a strong correlation is observed between εrt' and albumin with P<0.05. Although albumin is not used as an index for hemodialysis efficiency, it can reflect water amount in blood vessels and liver operation. This finding implies that εrt' could be used as an index for evaluating blood viscosity and liver function. | |
