AURA Satellite Observation System for Determination of Ozone and Chloro Fluoro Carbon-11 (CFC-11) Over Indonesia

NASA launched the Aura satellite in July 2004 to track atmospheric conditions, from the upper ozone layer, which guards against solar radiation, to the air near the ground. AURA carries four instrument that survey the atmosphere from top to bottom including monitoring ozone and Ozone Depleting Substance (ODS) especially Chloro Fluoro Carbon (CFC). Vertical ozone profile has been measured by Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS), while CFC has been measured by High Resolution Dynamic Limb Sounder (HIRDLS). This research aims is to determinate of ozone and CFC-11 vertical profile over Indonesia and the interaction between ozone and CFC-11 as an ODS in equatorial region. Result shows that the peak of ozone vertical profile occurs at 10 hPa with a concentration range 8-11 ppm. While CFC-11 highest peak occurs at 110 hPa and 121.5 hPa with a range concentration from 0,3 untill 0,7 ppb. Ozone and CFC do not interact directly in the atmosphere. |
