Power consumption of a reversible and conservative circuit can be zero. Such a circuit can be constructed with delay lines and Fredkin gates, both of which can be implemented almost ideally using optical technology.. It is shown, with asynchronous and variable length packets, that packet routers with buffers without power consumption can be constructed using Fredkin gates and delay lines. |
