Photocorsslinkable polymer liquid crystals (PCLC) exhibit thermally stable photo-orientation by exposing them under the linearly polarized ultraviolet (LPUV) light. The reorientation directions can be controlled by both polarization direction and exposure energy of LPUV light. In this study we present a simple yet efficient method to automatically fabricate the twisted nematic (TN) structure by one-step exposure on the empty glass cell coated with PCLC films. Additionally the vector grating liquid crystalline cell with TN structure was also fabricated by means of developed method and the diffraction properties were well explained by the theoretical calculation on the basis of Jones calculus. |
