| (in English) | This paper presents an improved procedure for liver vessel registration for comparative reading of liver CT images. In the previous procedure, image registration was performed by a non-rigid deformation with pairs of corresponding branching points in liver vessel regions extracted from two input CT images. However, because only a local template matching was used for searching corresponding pairs, some results were globally incorrect. In this paper, a new way for eliminating such a false correspondence by using a global feature is proposed. First, for corresponding pairs obtained by the local matching, directional vectors between the pair with the maximum value of local similarity and other pairs are calculated in each image. Then, a pair with a great difference between its corresponding vectors is eliminated as an incorrect correspondence. In experiment, the new registration procedure including the global elimination step was applied to 39 pairs of abdominal CT images with no occurrence of incorrect correspondence and registration results better than those by the previous procedure. | |
