In order to share the spectrum in a cognitive radio system, it is important not only that a secondary user recognizes surrounding wireless environments but also spectrum efficiency is improved. A method that the secondary users exchange information has attracted attention in order to correctly recognize the wireless environment with distributed manner. Then an effective channel utilization method for control information and data information is required. Therefore, in this paper, a method for selecting control channel from multiple primary channels is considered, to improve the efficiency of spectrum. In general, low channel occupancy channels are utilized for secondary packet transmission from multiple white spaces (WS) to realize high reliable packet transmission. However, if the short packets like control packets are transmitted at such low channel occupancy channels, the channels are fragmented and a data packet cannot be transmitted continuously. This paper proposes a channel selection algorithm
by considering a state transition ratio and channel occupancy ratio of the primary channels, and by considering characteristics of data and control packets. The proposed method can reduce the wasted fragmented spectrum
resources for data information by multiple short control information packets. Finally, we evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method by computer simulations. |
