A Histogram ROI Quantization Method and its Applications

(in English) This paper proposes an image quantization method with a region of interest (ROI) on the image histogram by extending a weighted median cut quantization method. The proposed method reduces quantization errors in the user-specified histogram ROI by assigning a designated number of quantization levels to the ROI, whereas the remained levels are assigned to the regions of non-interest. A definitive algorithm of the proposed method and its applications are also described to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
