| (in English) | It is an important problem for a network manager to understand characteristics of a network. A method for estimating an internal state of a link in a network from end-to-end measurements is called network tomography. In this study, we focus on the problem of network tomography that is to estimate packet loss rates of links in condition that those of paths are given. There are two methods for network measurement, active measurement and passive measurement. In previous study, an active measurement, which uses probe packets, are used for the packet loss rates of paths. We propose the packet loss rate estimation using active and passive measurements and derive an estimation method from EM algorithm. It can decrease the measurement cost and keep the accuracy of estimation because the method can predict a missing value by using a probabilistic model. | |
