A Study on Path Shadowing Model due to Human Activities in Outdoor to Indoor Radio Propagation Environments
Tokio Taga (Kwansei Gakuin Univ.), Tetsuro Imai (NTT docomo) AP2011-204
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Although the propagation characteristics in outdoor region be practically the free space characteristics in a signal transmission between a cellular base station and a standstill terminal in an indoor environment, the radio waves entered into indoor space through a window aperture are shadowed by objects such as moving human bodies. As the results, the received signal has fading characteristics. In order to easily predict these fading characteristics, it is effective to construct the path shadowing model for those rays entering into the indoor space. There are some radio paths which shadowing probabilities are relatively low in the environments, but it depends on the heights of radio terminal antenna, the windows, and shadowing objects such as human body, and also on these locations. Our previously presented model would not enough to model those low shadowing probability paths. So, in this paper, an improved model is presented, through the low shadowing paths are identified, and these shadowing probabilities are formulated. The comparison between experimental and predicted results are further presented.
