Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) ERP (Event related potential) studies have suggested that visual mismatch negativity (vMMN) should consist of two subcomponents, refractoriness and change detection. MEG (magnetoencephalogram) studies on vMMN may reveal the neural functions of the two subcomponents.
We therefore, tried to detect vMMN by using MEG and divide that into two the sub-components in this study. An usual oddball paradigm and an equiprobable paradigm have been adopted. VEFs (Visual evoked fields) by standard and deviant stimuli were obtained by the oddball paradigm, while VEF by control stimuli were obtained by the equiprobable paradigm. These three VEFs (standard, deviant, and control) have been compared.
The vMMN seemed to be observed by the MEG, however, the two subcomponents have not been separated so far.
