Studies on the Miniaturization of a Directivity Controllable Antenna for Three-Dimensional Space Search Robot

(in English) On March 2011,the huge earthquake and subsequential tsunami led the radiation leakage accident in the Fukushima daiichi nuclear plant.In order to investigate inside of the damaged plant,three-dimensional mobile robot has been used.Data transmission from the three-dimensional mobile robot is done in the wireless.Currently,the usual whip antenna is mounted on the robot. Because the directivity of the whip antenna is fixed in the vertical plane, the gain of antenna decreases when the robot communicates between upstairs and down stairs. We have previously proposed a 2-element collinear array antenna. However, this antenna is relatively large. In this paper, we propose a smaller antenna to replace the 2-element collinear array antenna and evaluated the performance by simulation.
