The Control Method of Tilt Angel to Reduce the Inter-Cell Interference for MIMO Base Station Antenna Using Vertically Split Array
Sho Yoshida, Huiling Jiang, Taisuke Ihara, Keizo Cho (DOCOMO) AP2012-48
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The MMS-VSA antenna, which using split sub-array in vertical direction, can improve the branch number of base station antenna to 4 branches without increase the size and the number of antenna. This paper proposed a control method of tilt angle which set different tilt angles for the 4 branch and the 2 branch antennas, to reduce the sector-interference and cell-interference. In this paper, we evaluated the tilt angle control for 2 branch/4 branch switched MMS-VSA in multi-cell environment. From the simulation results, the proposed method can increase the average channel capacity up to 30%, and the capacity at the cell edge area is the same as the case of 4×4 MIMO using additional antenna.
