Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Recently, the problem is that many intruders cross the border between America and Mexico. Intruders try to cross the desert of a harsh environment in the border because a desert is insufficient for observing condition. So,the number of deaths is increasing in the border every year because of heatstroke, dehydration, etc. For that reason,Border Security System is paid attention as a system automatically observing the border at all times. Border Security System detects intruders early by many sensor nodes placed in the border and transmits the detection data to border patrols. The advantages of Border Security System are early detection of intruders, saving a life, reduction of border patrols, etc. But the problem of Border Security System is much costs placed many sensor nodes and the power consumption because it targets the vast extent like a border. In this paper,we proposed Honeycomb-type Barrier Coverage Method aimed reduction of the number of sensor nodes and the power consumption for Border Security System. The proposed method can reduce the number of sensor nodes by sensor nodes placed honeycomb-form. And the proposed method newly prepares two operating modes (ordinarily operating mode and emergency operating mode) for keeping the rate of detection caused by reduction of the number of sensor nodes. We show the effectiveness of the proposed method by computer simulation. As a result,we proved that the proposed method has the low-power consumption and keeps the equivalent rate of detection, compared with the conventional method.
