Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) systems have become popular as a new identification source that is applicable in ubiquitous environments. One of the most important technologies that use the RFID system is the position estimation of RFID tags. The position estimation means to estimates the location of the object with the RFID tag. If an RFID reader understands the position of RFID tags, we can develop a new excellent indoor navigation system for people in a complex building, a hospital, and so on. In this paper, we propose a new method for accurate indoor position estimation of passive RFID tags named as a Double Detections Communication Range Recognition (DD-CRR) method. By continuing to rotate the RFID reader antenna while the mobile robot with the RFID reader moves continuously, DD-CRR can accurately estimate the position of the RFID tag efficiently. We evaluated the performance of the proposed method by computer simulations. As the results, we found that DD-CRR can estimate the positions of RFID tags accurately. |
