In this paper, we propose a method to measure total chirp of parallel MZMs without necessity to measure chirp of sub-MZMs separately by analyzing optical spectrum components. Especially, the method can be applied for any parallel modulator without any restriction on extinction ratio and permit to evaluate the chirp parameter at a specific frequency. We then demonstrate the proposed method in an experiment measurement to estimate the chirp parameter for a simple parallel MZM consisting of two-sub MZMs embedded on the arms of a main MZI.The obtained result reveals the effectiveness of this chirp measurement method. |
