Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In order to enhance the reaching distance as well as the number of split of EPON systems cost-effectively, several techniques of EPON repeaters have been proposed so far. For such EPON repeaters, it is requied to suppress waveform degradation of upstream burst signals and to allow coexistence of 10G-EPON system, which is one of the potential candidates for next generation optical access systems, with existing 1G-EPON system. In this paper, we report two transmission experiments: one utilizing an O/E/O repeater for 1G-EPON system, and another utilizing an optical amplifier-based repeater for 10G/1G-EPON coexisting system, respectively.
