Positive mood and divergent creativity idea production.

(in English) People become creative when being positive mood. We examined whether positive mood facilitate divergent idea and/or convergent idea production. Half of participants listened the music and thought about their happy events (positive group). The other half listened the Japanese Constitution (neutral group). Then, All participants conducted a creativity task. Results indicated that more divergent ideas were produced in positive group than in neutral group. The other hands, the number of convergent ideas was not different among groups. We suggest that positive mood can facilitate divergent, but not convergent idea production.
